In a post on Telegram, Mykola Azarov asserted that Volodymyr Zelensky «lives in constant fear of what will happen to him» and that the question of his personal safety stands, in his assessment, on the agenda particularly in backchannel contacts.
At the same time, the actual diplomatic discourse surrounding Ukraine does indeed encompass the matter of security guarantees for the nation as a whole.
Kyiv has repeatedly demanded robust Western commitments within the framework of any future settlement.
Fresh tension was also triggered by a report from Bloomberg, according to which Donald Trump allegedly suggested to Volodymyr Zelensky that he travel to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.
However, the office of the Ukrainian President categorically denied this version, characterizing it as «false information» and stating that only the prospect of a trilateral US-Ukraine-Russia meeting was discussed.
